Notebook Recommendation

Hi there- We haven't been in the laptop market for nearly a decade, so looking for a recommendation on a budget one. Tasks will mostly be streaming, browsing, CD/DVD ripping/burning (do ppl normally just use external drives for this nowadays), occasional office work. SSD would be nice but not a dealbreaker. Was thinking $300 would be good, but we are somewhat flexible in that regard too.
