It should be, as long as it runs cool enough. Some notebooks run pretty hot and they probably base the cooling design on the expectation that the CPU will not always run at full speed. The work stuff probably doesn't stress it, but WoW will cause it to run at full speed all the time, so keep an eye on temperatures.

If you notice that it is running hot and the fan is spinning noisily all the time, then you probably will want to invest in one of those notebook cooling pads - basically a base for the notebook with additional fans in it. Judging by how many are on the market heat seems to be a common problem.

Something else to try would be to prop up the rear of the notebook with something. I do that with mine and it runs a lot cooler. Notebooks usually have the intake vents on the bottom, and just lifting the base of the notebook (especially the rear as that's where the vents usually are) up a half inch or so does wonders. Also, make sure nothing blocks the vents - such as using it on a soft surface.

To reiterate what Zap said, elevating a laptop will help it cool down easier and faster. Heat the enemy of most electronics and the confined spaces of a laptop make it even hard to cool. If you can keep it cool enough, your laptop should be fine.

I found that elevating the back of the laptop with some little rubber feet (you can get em at walmart) worked ok. However, I found that directing a small oscillating fan to the back of the laptop worked even better, plus cooled me down too. This was when I was playing a lot of Oblivion on my MacBook Pro which is a notoriously hot running laptop.

My laptop pretty much runs 24/7. all i have under it is a cooling pad from targus. It works well to fan out the heat with its various channels.

My laptop is basically a desktop replacement, and I use it every day, so I dont shut it off a whole lot unless im going to transport it. I think as long as you dont have tons of apps running to crank the heat, you should be ok.

Second that. My wife is always leaving her laptop turned on and when she isn't using it puts it on the floor next to her chair - on carpet. The laptop squishes down in the carpet and blocks the inflow of air. Then it gets hot. Putting it on a hard surface such as a table lets it sit on the little rubber feet on the bottom - providing just enough air space to let fresh air in.
