Notebook motherboard cross reference?

Does anyone know of a cross-reference for laptop motherboards?

The reason I ask is because I have a Gateway 450SX 1.6ghz P4 that is in great condition, but it wont expand above 512 mb of ram, so I'm wondering if there are alternate BIOS's from other oems or even the mainboard manufacturer itself that will open it up to accept 1 or 2 gigs. It seems that any P4 chipset should be able to address at least 1 gig of ram.
 
Unfortunatly the laptiop isn't limited by the bios but by the chipset. In order to accomidate more RAM you would have to change out the Chipset wich isn't possible. Afraid your stuck with what you have.
 
I guess your right, I checked the 845mz spec sheet and it only supports 512. I didn't think there was an p4 chipset that wouldn't see at least a gig. Oh well I guess.
