notebook memory

Need some help people (did a search on this topic but no luck). Simply adding more memory to a Gateway 9300 Solo notebook; a very wide range of pricing. Is the notebook memory more "picky" then a desktop??? Played lots of games with my desktop's memory and never had a problem. Gateway wants $200 for 256 megs, and on the other end, you can find it for $44.

What has been your experience???

I'd check Crucials pricing and get it from there if it is competitive. That way you know you got some good stuff.

usually went with Mushkin. I'll look into Crucial.
