Hi all, I have a Asus G50-vt from Best Buy. It originally had Vista, but my hard drive that came with it died within 1 year. So, I bought a new hard drive from New Egg, (western digital 320 gb), and went ahead and bought Windows 7 Home Premium 64 instead of going back to dead Vista.

So I installed the new hard drive and then Windows 7 and have had several issues since.

1. My on board Wifi worked at first, now it doesn't. This seemed to stop working after I installed all the drivers and everything from Asus.com for: notebook >>> G50 Series >>> G50-vt (best buy) >>> Windows 7 64 bit edition. Here's the link if you want to look at what popped up or drivers etc. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

2. There are no sounds coming from the computer speakers, but when I plug in some earphones, I hear vague representations of the music I'm trying to listen to.

3. Sometimes I have a problem where my computer doesn't detect my DVD-ROM drive. And I notice when my notebook is posting, that my ambios says "auto detecting PCH ... not detected.

Here's a link for the system review and specs:

I have no clue why these problems exist, and I am hoping that any help to resolve these issues is greatly appreciated!

Did you go to Asus's site and download and install the chipset and other hardware drivers for your machine?

Make sure you are using 64 bit drivers.

Thanks guys I just figured out what I did wrong. I did download everything from Asus.com, but I somehow overlooked flashing the BIOS. Once I did that everything worked fine.
