Notebook harddrive temperature too high?

I just built a new harddrive in my notebook (Dell Inspiron 8100: 1,2 Ghz P3 with 512 Mb RAM) and it is getting quite hot: 55°C (the harddrive temperature) while working with windows. Is that too hot? Any advice to make it cooler? Better case fans maybe?

The Harddrive is a 40Gb Seagate ST94811A.

TIA

My HDD also hovers around 50 degrees .... IBM 60 GB... Inspiron 8500 ... so i guess its ok..

How hot did your old hdd run?

wow, sounds hot... try downloading a program called "mobile meter".

Mine shows 32 degrees idle, and 40 at load (7200 rpm hitachi). But if you haven't got any problems, it's probably ok - if your notebook starts acting up, I would worry though😀

No probs so far, just wondering. I must test the previous drive and will post the info here. I didnt have a temperatur monitor installed before.
