I put in an order with newegg for the asus g71.

anyone have any recommendation on a notebook cooler for the g71 I will be getting soon?
 
The G-71 is a well designed gamer's laptop. It has a very good cooling system, and spacers on the rear to insure adequate airflow. The fan is on the bottom, and sucks air up. For this reason, it is not really a "laptop," but a notebook.

Just about any cooler pad that brings fresh air to the underside of the G-71 will work. On the other hand, it may not need one if operated on a hard, flat surface.
