Sounds like a good deal. Toshiba makes great 2.5" HDs. I might pick one of these up. Combine it with a USB-powered 2.5" enclosure and you got yourself a nice portable USB 2.0 HD.

Dell advertises the Toshiba, but you might get the Hitachi drive. Both are fast and good drives.

Don't PM me for coupons, I've used mine
That is not allow here.

I've seen people posting these 10% coupons here.
Never Happen ! see above.

You are mistaken this place with that place.
Beside, AT'ers are not bunch of beggars to start with.

That said, even without the stackable it's a good deal.

i use this drive, its worth the money if you have a 4200 rpm in your laptop. You will see a HUGE difference in speed.

I pick one of these up in Feb and got the Hatachi. Just tried to put it in my new USB 2.0 enclosure and the pins don't match. The pins on this drive are for a Dell laptop which are like a pci card or ram, not like the pins on a reg hard drive. It's a Bytecc enclosure.

so what happens if you get a standard 2.5 drive to fit in a dell (not this drive but another one)? It won't work?

My laptop is a new Dell Inspiron 5150 and it only takes drives made for Dell with the pci pins setup. I can't say for older Dell laptops. Best to call Dell support. I haven't check'd my HP or Toshiba laptop yet.

Since at least last year, Toshiba has had 16mb cache mobile hard drives. I had this drive for a while. Noisy little sucker. And an online site that did benchmark tests of this drive had it losing to a Hitachi/IBM drive with 8mb cache. Seemed plenty fast though, but I couldn't stand the clunking and clanking. I'm after a silent laptop though (when the system fan isn't on), so I'd say I'm on the highly sensitive side when it comes to noise. But I'd only get this drive based on price, not the 16mb cache - as there are 8mb cache drives that outperform this one and are much quieter.

Dunno.. Wouldn't it be better to get a regular 3.5" drive for that much money? For the same price you can get 80-100 gig version, that would make more sense to me. Sizewise it wouldn't be much bigger.

No.. it is much smaller because there is no separate power supply.
