Was told just to pop the sim from the old iPhone into the new iphone and bam.

Well, wasn't that easy.

The new iPhone has to be reactivated with the old sim card. Just do everything the same was as the initial activation and it should work fine.

Just a heads up, spent a good hour on the phone with AT&T to figure this out.

An hour? My first iPhone would not charge to 100% so it was swapped out at the Apple store after about 5 minutes of my time. The Mac Genius who did the swap just told me to just plug it into iTunes (he did the SIM swap on the spot). Did that and iTunes asked me if I'd like to restore my iPhone backup to my phone, I did that and it immediately activated.

Can you activate the iPhone at the Apple Store? It's a pretty good drive from my house so I'd rather test it on the spot than at home.

I suppose if you bring a laptop you could but I don't think they just have computers that you can activate with. It's a pretty painless process overall though and if you do have troubles, the time I called to get info about 64 bit was very fast and the person was quite knowledgable and not useless... Also a native english speaker.

Posted from the phone -- getting quite good at 2 thumbs!

Edit: the number I called was Apple's specific line for iPhone support. Not AT&T, just to be clear.
