note to self...don't bother calling service

My TV was frozen and I don't know how to work the new dish so I call up SBC and wait on hold 20 minutes and the first thing they suggest is to power down the unit then plug it back in. Of course this fixes the problem, so simple. Now I know, just power cycle everything before you call and waste your time...and theirs. That is all. 🙂

I work for campus instructional support services at WSU and we get calls like this ALL the time... except instead of power cycling it's usually stuff like "Try turning the power on." I guess tech isn't everyone's "thing" even if they have a PhD.

I should have thought of it while I spent the 20 mins on hold looking at a blank TV b/c I do the same thing with my router all the time....but I had a brain fart I guess. 😕
