When planning an event for a community, GIVE A FREAKING ADDRESS. New comers will love you for it. Don't give directions like "It is by noland park". They don't know where the heck noland park is.

The back story.

We have a community event that I wanted to go to and was expected to be at. I don't know anyone here (conundrum, I know, I'm expected to be there, yet have no contacts.) So when I was given directions they were on the order of "It is the place outside next to noland park. just around the corner." When I asked for clarification, I got none. Just give me a damn address that I can put into my gps, heck even "Left at the green house" would be better then random names of parks that I've never been to.

I'm slightly irritated about it, I spent 20mins driving around looking for the event and have given up. These stupid ass people complain that they don't get more new comers showing up to their events, yet they are dumb enough not to put them in the same place, or give any sort of clear instructions about how to get there. Gee, I wonder why someone that hasn't lived here for 50 years doesn't show up to your community events...

Needless to say, after being 20 mins late, I said screw it and went home. I tried, I really did.

Whats worse, they have a community center that is pretty prominent and has lots of facilities. But rather then hosting everything there, they have to move around everywhere in town. I swear they haven't hosted on thing in the same spot since I've been here.

When my friend graduated from college he sent everyone he knew an email invite with directions on it from Google Maps. Well, the directions were wrong but he never double checked them. Since a good 2/3rd's of the people didn't know the area it was at. Most never made it :D

I had a situation where I had an address, but the building had no signs on it whatsoever indicating it was the correct building and the address didn't make sense. The road it was supposedly on was not the road it was actually on, but the road it was on had no name. It is a community center that has been in the news for financial problems... would help to have a real address with signs.

On the opposite side, I get irritated by certain businesses who run ads in the paper with an address that's not very helpful. There's a road near us that is 7 miles long, and businesses on that road will put "1234 Longview Blvd" as their address in the ad. Nothing else.

I'm not going to drive up and down that road, which is lined by stores, restaurants and other businesses (=hardly any prominently display a street number), hoping I might get lucky and find them.

Just put "just north of the intersection with Ridgedale" or some other helpful hint to narrow it down!

If you look closely at the area, you'll notice there are about 20 LDS church buildings in the area.
