Just ran across this thread, had to come in to defend the OP. Some people here are giving him crap for complaining about it since he paid to see it. WTF? So it's ok to for people to complain about call of duty but not movies?!

To add, I saw this piece of crap film too, my wife wanted to see it because she was delusional and was sold by the trailer. I knew in advance that this would blow chunks, so I told her if we go see this, she has to agree to see Underworld and Total Recall with me (Kate Beckinsdale FTW).

Back to the topic - this is by far one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Not even remotely funny and the end was full of cheese just like all of his movies. I think he needs to give up on the dumb comedy bit, and go for the hybrid movies like funny people.

my 2 cents

OP, you seriously decided to pay to see a movie that had a 4% Rotten Tomatoes rating?

Even the RT audience rating of 53% would tell me not to go.

Plus I actually saw a couple of trailers and decided that this was going to stink.

Our society is really desperate for entertainment if that crappy movie grossed $26M already.

Do you always judge movies based on other opinions?

I don't agree on 'Click' I thought that movie was terrible, I haven't seen 'Shakes the clown' but the rest of these are mostly accurate

It was OK, just not funny at all. It probably needs to be in the bottom left quadrant.

A lot of times you can gauge things well from others opinions. Like at least if you normally agree with them. I don't normally agree with RT so I don't validate their scores as much as other websites I read.

However, regardless of what I have or haven't read about a movie or what opinions I've heard - I've always seen a trailer for a movie before I go watch it. And often even watch a couple of them. Especially for movies like this.

Any normal human can watch any trailer for this movie and see that it was going to be terrible. Enough said.

There's not doubt this movie looked horrible..I wouldn't have bothered paying to see it, but why trust, with 100% confidence, a site like RT? I'll look at RT/meta/other sites, and even if they hate it, sometimes i'll still go and enjoy it. Not this movie though, it's downfall was Adam Sandler playing his own sister.

Yea but wouldn't you watch a trailer first? I mean, yea RT/meta/other sites hate it, but then you watch the trailer and think "Hmmm I wonder why everyone hates this, looks pretty good IMO"

You don't just say "oh adam sandler" lets check it out.

I don't go to the theatre anymore, but for "Don't mess wit the Zohan" I watched it when it came out on DVD because I thought, hmmm I'll check it out even though most hate it and ended up liking it ok. I wouldn't have paid to see it in the theatre, but there are very few movies worth my money in that regard, much less a comedy like this.

Why? Answer is obvious. If you can't figure it out, then no one can help you. The same general idea applies to Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is averaging an 89 on Metacritic. Jack and Jill is averaging a 23. Based on that information, if you went to see Jack and Jill and didn't like it, you'd say "huh, I guess all those critic who said it was awful knew what they were talking about." If you bought Call of Duty and didn't like it, you'd say "why on Earth did this get such high reviews?" If the majority opinion says something is crap and you get it anyway, that's on you; if the majority opinion says something is great and you think it's crap, you have a legitimate complaint.

I understand all that. I'm just stating that he's entitled to his opinion. I'm willing to bet that there are plenty of people that loved the stinkin movie, I'm just not one of them. I'm also pretty sure that there are people that hate COD / BF3 / enter game here. How many people here trashed Duke Nuke? Plenty. There were are also some people who loved it, just a matter of taste. It's the same with movies - some trailers look amazing yet the movie stinks. I knew J&J would suck, but hey my wife wanted to see so why not. Same with OP- His girl wanted to see it and I say he has the right to complain even if he paid. Fans are entitled to boo players since they paid for the ticket.

Paying for garbage is a bigger crime than being mocked for bitching about something that you paid for. The real issue is that the garbage that the OP is complaining about, will continue to be made because of his (& others) actions.

If my gf wanted to see this shit I wouldn't even need to say anything. I would simply look @ her, with a non-plussed expression and she would instantly know that neither of us will ever be watching this crap, much less paying for it. :D

epic fail on the logic there bud. So, by your logic, if you pay for a meal at a restaurant and it's utter crap, you have no right to complain because you made a conscious choice to pay for it? lol. Ok.

Difference is, restaurant food is supposed to be good, while anything with a cerebrum can look at that movie poster for an eighth of a second and know it's going to be horrifyingly, faith-smashingly, PTSD-inducingly bad.

That is not good at all.. considering a budget of $80 Million.

Edit: Adam Sandler is one of the producers.. so it is actually good for the rest of the world if he loses some money.

There is absolutely no correlation between tomatometer and the movie's total collections.

not true. High RT ratings generally allow a movie to "have legs" and make money week after week ("Dolphin Tale", "The Help" come to mind)

You are just giving anecdotes. There are tons of movies that flopped at the BO despite having high tomatometer.

Marketing > Tomatometer.

I'm pretty sure if we did some data mining and figured out what movies held up extremely well for multiple weeks, they would be high RT % movies.
