Note II or Moto G

Keep the Note II or Moto G?

I would pick Note 2.

-LTE
-2GB of RAM is much better
-8GB with no expansion sucks

The ONLY benefit for the Moto G is a better stock experience if you hate Touchwiz. Exynos AOSP roms are a hack.

Note 2 all the way. There are CM & AOKP roms for it, so if you hate touchwiz, there you go. Plus, expandable storage & removable battery & a big beautiful screen.

The Note II would be the better phone, hardware-wise.

But there's on such complete opposite ends of the spectrum otherwise. If the bigger screen and wacom stylus appeal to you, then that seems like a good price for a Note II.

The Moto G makes sense at a low price point. Compared to a Note 2 at a similar price (only $30 more), the Note 2 is probably the better value unless you absolutely need a small form factor for active use such as jogging, cycling, gym use, ect. That's the only real edge I can think of for the Moto G.

With the Note 2 you get a larger screen, LTE, a better camera, more internal storage, SD card support, a removable battery, and double the RAM.

The Moto G offers: A slightly more up to date OS (KitKat), and a smaller form factor.

I voted Note II, but I was close to voting Moto G.

I like with the Moto G it's a brand new out of the box device (smell that new toy smell), is pretty close to stock Android, and will be getting the latest version of Android for probably 18 months to 2 years. While the Note II probably just got it's last update.

But I'm guessing you got the base model Moto G with 8GB of RAM. *bleep* that! I think only the 16GB Moto G should be considered (not sure how much more expensive the price bump is).

With the new Play Service Framework, having an older version of Android isn't quite as bad as it used to be. So yeah, the Note II is probably the better way to go if it fits in your pocket.

PS. I just saw the Google Play Edition Moto G just went on sale and the 16GB model is only $20 more.

I highly doubt it. Samsung usually updates for 2years on there high end phones.

Sam Mobile suggests the Note II will get 4.4 before April

I will be using custom roms, so once 4.4 hits the N7105, it will be flashable to I317M's too.

I'm debating which rom I'm going to use, or if I just want to try out stock 4.3 TW for a while first.

So yeah, I'm going Note II. It's just the better phone all around I think.

I love my note 2. 2gb ram which is a must with android now a days, removable battery, SD card support, the s pen is sweet, 1 inch bigger screen, quad core CPU, LTE. The note 2 I think is still one of the better android phones out there. You really can't beat what you get and I got mine two weeks ago for $200 used with a otterbox defender case, it was literally a no brainer and I think it's a no brainer in your situation too.

No way would I pick the moto g in your situation. Send that sucker back and get a refund

The Note 2 is a superior device to the Moto G. The display, CPU, RAM, etc. are all superior. The stylus tech is an advantage also.

note 2 jellybomb it and call it a day. Best phone I have ever owned. I have no plans to replace it with anything else. The note 2 has plenty of power and battery life. I can get by on this phone for at least another 2 years. Nothing else out excites me. Note 5 is probably the next phone I will buy.

The only thing I would change on your phone is to get a flip case from Samsung.

Note 2

running 4.3 sophisticated rom (touchwiz), everything works.

Tried a few AOSP roms but volume was always an issue.

I was considering a Moto x or G for my wife who wanted a small phone coming from an Iphone 4

Pretty sure your view will change when the Galaxy Note 4 comes out.

Phones get huge upgrades every 2 cycles.

I know this is super speculative but I can't think of what they can do to make it better. I don't use a stylus which I think is the weaker point of the note 2. Battery life and processing speed is great.

I do realize they can make the screen better and make things load a little faster.

I would have upgraded to the Note 3 for the 1080p screen alone.

Most people sweat 1080p screens but I really don't see that much of a difference. I buy my phones off contract so another 300 to 400 hundred bucks for an upgraded screen would not be worth it to me. I am excited to see what Samsung will come up with next.

I actually have both devices in my hands right now.

I agree, performance still feels plenty fast on the Note II compared to the III, and I certainly would not be willing to pay $300 for the screen upgrade. It's nicer, but its not $300 nicer. Maybe, maybe $100 nicer. If camera gets involved, maybe a different story. But my opinion is for most Social Media, most any modern smartphone camera will do the trick.

I have a much nicer Sony Camera that takes better pictures and video than the Note III.

I will be keeping my Note II.

I personally would go for the moto G because unlike most people here I use my phone for phone like things (calling, texting, scorecenter, email etc.) and can live without LTE. I have a tablet for tablet things and I like portability. But spec wise the Note 2 is better in almost every way.

If you value using your phone one-handed a lot, don't care about the lack of non-expandable memory, and are averse to sticking a mini-tablet in your pocket, Moto G.

Otherwise, Note. I have all three Notes and I've grown accustomed to the screen size. I don't use the stylus at all, it's more of a gimmick to me.
