Hello everyone,
I am looking to switch carriers from AT&T to Verizon Wireless by the end of the month. I really like my Note 3 I've been using since December 2013; so I'd want to continue with a Note, most likely. I use multi window often, and pen window occasionally. I also use Action memo about twice a week.
I have been offered a $300 reward from VZ for
1) trading in any smartphone (I'll trade in an old S4 for this, and sell the Note 3)
2) porting a number to VZ from another carrier
3) Purchasing a new phone from VZ on a monthly payment plan.
Seeing as that the Note 4 Verizon version has been selling for $375~ on eBay and Amazon, this looks to be a pretty good deal. The Note 5 is $696, and with those $300 off, it would be a net cost to me of $396.
My only fears are these:
1) I can't add a new battery easily, or slap on a massive ZeroLemon case (which I've always thought would be badass, but never tried).
2) I have a 64 GB SD card I would like to use if I could in the Note 4. Obviously couldn't use in the 5. I might go for the 64 GB version, or use the cloud more often. Not sure.
3) On the Note 5 and Edge+, Samsung will brick your phone if you root it! What is this madness! (I haven't rooted since my old Nexus 4 in 2013). If I wanted root, I would have to get rid of my Note and play that game with a different phone.
So, I see the $300 discount as a good deal. Question is, in your eyes is the Note 5 worth the sacrifices for power users, given that I would get it for about the same price as a used Note 4?
Thanks in advance.
