*NOT* your typical poll (old guy posting) How old were you when you began posting as a contributing member here?

"Contributing"; that is the key word. You have to actually help people. Whether it be in GH or Networking....you have to actually share your knowledge, not just NEF. 😛

After 2+ years here at Anandtech, I am much smarter on all things computer-related. I am also keenly aware that the average age here is um...YOUNG. There are a select few members here that are actually considerably older than I...but they mostly post here in OT. Not to belittle the OT Forum; to wit: the Off Topic forum is my free therapist! 🙂

But, I frequently post and try to help others in GH/OCing/Mobos....just as many assisted me and continue to assist me as I try my damndest to incinerate my mobo/CPU. 😀

Assuming that you (as you read this) can honestly say that you at least try to help in OTHER AT forums besides OT:

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED POSTING HERE?

Me personally? I found this place by searching on Alta Vista (remember that? 🙂) I was looking for help selecting "parts" for my first self-built rig..."way back" in January, 2001. I was 32 years old. That would be "FREAKIN' OLD" by AT standards. 😛

I first started lurking here in '99, before FuseTalk. After I registered, I was just a FS/FT junkie, looked in OT occasionally, thought 'whata buncha idiots' 😛
I didn't post in GH or otherwise try to help people (can you call posting in OT 'helping people'?) until 2001.

Oh, and I'll be 39 in May, youngster 😛

Cool!! Somebody is OLDER than I am! 😛 Oh..I'm sorry, Sir......😉

Need more options. I was 18 and working in an IT services company and building my first 100+ computer network 😀. My first 300 posts or so were almost exclusively in the Tech Support (helping people out) or the General Hardware forums. It wasn't till later that I discovered the curse that is ATOT 😱

sopmore year. i was 20

began to lurk in the fall in teh spring i regtisterd and started to contribute. you guys helped me build and OC my first computer

i started in general hardware, and i used to actually contribute to people and help them with their problems. then OT sucked me in, and i haven't seen the light of day since. hardware? what's hardware?

I started lurkimng and doing research in '99 when I was about 25. I finally signed up when I was 26, and I did most of my posting in Motherboards, GH, and the CPU/OC forums. I just recently discovered OT. 😉

OT is the curse, my man! I started in GH myself...ironically enough, I REFUSED to post in OT. I thought it was for "the less enlightened of the unwashed masses." Well, I guess I'm one stinky poster, then. 😱
