This DVD player is on clearence at some Walmarts. It was originally $138.xx, and some stores may still have it at that price. What makes this such a hot deal is not only the price, but the player itself. It is about half the width of a "normal" DVD player, and it is a SLOT loader. It comes with a bracket that allows it to set in a horizontal or vertical position, and it is capable of running off of 12V DC. It is loaded with features, component output, optical & coaxial output, S-Video output, discrete 5.1 audio outputs. It is capable of PAL or NTSC output, features 4x zoom, camera angle control and has one of the most comprehensive remotes I have seen. It plays cd's, cd-r, cdrw,dvd,mp3,svcd,vcd and sacd(cd layer only). Again, YMMV

P.S. This unit is supposed to be hackable via remote to make it region free.
 
A friend of mine bought one of these and he was surprised to find that he didn't need a Macrovision stripper to get proper video out of it. Unfortunately, he had already bought one. No hacking or anything required, though.
 
i bought this same unit from target and returned it. it is a nice unit but it locks up during play. i visited targets web site and saw customers who had the same experience. this may be the reason for the price reduction. beware!!!🙁
 
Where are you guys finding this? I called both of the stores in my area and they hadn't even heard of it. I really would like to get a standalone DVD player.
 
Sorry, I forgot about posting this. I bought the dvd In Columbia, TN and have seenit at the super walmart in Murfreesboro TN. Other than those two locations, I don't know about availability. There are so many bar codes and numbers on the box, I am not sure which one Walmart uses as a stock number. The dimensions are 9" wide X 2.2" thick X 11.7" deep.
 
Not sure about that this one. There are only a few reviews on vcdhelp.com and I have found that some people review units and have no clue what all the types of vcd there are.

post all of them... mr. amdskip may be able to shed more light on this product -- he may able to call it up in the system?
saw it and left it @ $135 (out of town -- so i can't easily check 🙁 sorry) about a week or so ago (?)
