If the owner of the business (barber, restaurant, etc) performs the service (cuts your hair, serves your table) for you, do you tip them?

I don't mind tipping on a $15 haircut.

I really mind when my wife tips on her $150 "haircut". :angry;

I do remember hearing that you do not tip the owner, but perhaps that's no longer the way it's done. The reasoning was that with a haircut, generally the stylist gets half and the owner gets half (more or less) - and since if the owner does the cut he/she is getting all the money, a tip isn't indicated.
