If the owner of the business (barber, restaurant, etc) performs the service (cuts your hair, serves your table) for you, do you tip them?

I tip the one that serves me. Doesn't matter if it's the owner.

I think the only tip I'd have then is "Lift with your knees, not your back, that luggage is heavy"

I do remember hearing that you do not tip the owner, but perhaps that's no longer the way it's done. The reasoning was that with a haircut, generally the stylist gets half and the owner gets half (more or less) - and since if the owner does the cut he/she is getting all the money, a tip isn't indicated.
