First accident... my fault 🙁

I began to parallel park *didn't glance the rear* and as I was going all of a sudden a pickup truck was next to me.. i hear a bump and STOPPED... the driver of the truck stuck his head out *to see the damage* and CONTINUED to drive up and scratched my car even more(wtf).

He ask if i was ok.. blah blah.. we get out of car to exchange phone #.. his truck had a scratch while my car had a dent/scuffs. He didn?t care about his truck cause it was a company?s car and it was already fuxed up. *bunch of other dents on the car* (he wasnt pissed or anything)

All I got was his cell phone (stupid me didn?t get plates or anything else)

this is my first accident and I really have no clue what to do? it was my fault for not checking my rear but he was trying to squeeze in? im not sure what he was doing..

Advice? Im thinking of just saying screw it and eat up the cost of repairing my car.. probably $400-500 Instead of having insurance involved with it all?

If it's your fault and he didn't care, don't worry about it. Imo, it'd probably be smart to eat the cost of reparing your car rather than call your insurance company.

/the above is just my opinion and may not be the smartest course of action.

I'm a firm believer in the "just call your insurance and let them deal with it" school of thought. Remember, your time is valuable too.

I would just let it go... wait a couple of weeks and see if he reports the accident (you will get a call from ur insurance company)... If not, then fix the car yourself and don't report it to your insurance company...

Well ideally you take plate numbers, exchange insurance cards to copy down that info, and call the cops to file an incident report.

Then you call your isnurance co asap to notify them of the incident.

Now what kinda car do you drive and what year? You may be surprised how much it may cost to fix if you've never been through a body shop before. A dent on a side panel to my civic 2 years ago cost $1k

I'd say just eat the cost of fixing your car, unless you have some lube handy for when you call the insurance company.

Besides, depending on your deductible and the amount to fix the damage, it may not even be covered under your insurance.

thanks for the replies... it was my first accident so i really had no clue what your supposed to do 🙁
another note is the insurance is under my mom while im secondary driver...

the other driver was probably my age 18-20... and he said he doesnt care about it..
the car already had alot of body damage and its a company car.

i'm going to talk to my parents tonight..

thanks for the advice again.

Was it persay a 1 lane, you were parallel parking, he tried to go around and you got scratched up and such? This almost happend to me(me going around 😛 ) and I almost got scratched, everyone ehre said it would have been my fault. Kinda confused on exactly what went down.

yeah it was a one way street/one lane. I hit reverse.. turning in to park... when I was reversing and next thing i know a car was next to me and bam.

Iozina, its a 2000 Audi A4. damn if your civic cost $1k to fix... ahhhh. My damage is a small dent and scuffs around it and a slight scuff on the headlight...
