So I seem to have an issue, and have also seemed to fixed it. I'm not really sure how though!
I have the following setup:
TV: Mitsubishi WD65C9 DLP
Receiver: Denon AVR-2112ci
Device: Playstation 3 (Fat)
Device: HTPC (i3-540, Gigabyte GA-P55N-USB3, 4GB DDR3, Win 7)
Device: XBOX 360 (Fat)
I've been messing around with my Denon AVR-2112ci, and everything was working fine... until last night. I decided to hook my other desktop up to my TV and see how AMD's HD3D worked. I quickly noticed two things:
1) Whenever my TV seemed to change resolution, it would make these really annoying clicking noises until it actually changed resolutions.
2) 720p content does not automatically zoom but rather displays in super letterbox mode!
Issue #1 would show up whenever I would switch from my PS3 to my HTPC. It'd also make these noises whenever I booted up my machine. Issue #2 would show up when I played some game demos on my PS3 or when I tried 720p60 with AMD HD3D.
I pretty much gave up on it, but then I found I had a firmware update for my TV. I'm not exactly sure what it did, but it didn't seem to change anything. Earlier, I noticed that my TV had a section in its setup for HDMI Control, which I had disabled on my receiver (I didn't know if my TV had it). So, I thought... what they hey... why not turn it on?
I turned HDMI Control on my receiver and things just started freaking out! My TV then reports to me that it found a new HDMI device called "AVR". After that, everything seemed to work fine as both issues haven't reared their ugly heads again (yet -- knock on wood).
So... does anyone have an idea what exactly was going on and how this magically fixed it? Maybe by finding a new device, the TV set the settings back to default... who knows!
