Not Sure if I should go Bigger

Ok,

I am asking a general question here for those who may be more power savy before I take several hours to figure this out technically on my own.

I am currently running a CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX supply in the following System:
Antec 900 (with the fans it comes with)
ASUS-P5Q PRo
Intel E8400 Wolfdale
8 GB DDR2
Radeon HD 4870
2 640GB HD's
2 2TB HD's
2 Samsung S223 CD/DVD Drives

Now I am confindent that 750 is a enough juice for that setup. BUT... I am about to add the following:
Radeon HD4870X2 (with tri cooling Artic Cooler)
and soon a Q9550

Now, is that power supply enough? Also, I am kind of looking for an excuse to swap it out to because it does not have modular cables. I'm curious to know if I should go to a 800 or higher...and of course with that 4870X2 something with modular cables to make some more room inside.

If so...reccommendations please... its been awhile since I bought a PSU (Keep in mind that Antec 900 has the PSU on the bottom, so a PSU designed for that setup would be awesome)

Maybe you should get a kill-a-watt first to check on how much power is being consumed now. Since there is no mention of oc'g, I'd guess low 300s at load.

So Those Kill-A-Watts show actually power grab at the time and not rate PSU power outpout? I just found the thread on the Kill-A-Watts...never heard of them before. I'm gonna grab one.

Low 300's? really?

So effectively 4870 trifire and a quad? You're definitely fine. And yeah for a 4870/C2D max load would probably be under 350w

You know you don't have to buy a "specially designed for bottom mounting case" power supply for your case, right? In case you hadn't noticed, your case allows you to mount a power supply right side up or upside down to allow the power supply's fan to have a clear intake of air. No need for looking for special power supplies....any will work.

As for what you need, I'd look at the Corsair HX850 or the Antec Sig850 or keep what you have....should be more than sufficient.

Don't take my word for it. Test it yourself.

The kill-a-watt's are cheap. Therefore you're going to miss some spikes but you'll be in the ballpark.

Well...I understand that...but its not exactly true. bottom mounting effects cable length. some PSU's (mine is tight but makes it) the cables come up short when you bottom mount.

I think I do want to change out my PSU though just for something that is modular. I dont want to pay an arm and a leg but do want something reliable. Myt extra cables are balled up now bocking airflow to my (2) 2 TB drives.
