Not sure if I need a wireless bridge, or if a wireless router can do this....

Here's the setup:

Modem------> Wired router ------> (wireless device needed here)

I have a modem hooked up to a wired router. There are several devices hooked up to the router. The router is in the basement of the house.

The house is wired for CAT5 upstairs to the basement. What I need is a wireless device to hook up to the router via CAT5 and become a wireless point for laptops upstairs.

I cannot unplug the router and hookup a wireless router directly. The signal would be unacceptable from the basement. So I need to hookup a wireless router to the wired router.

Now, do I need a wireless bridge? Or can I use a wireless router and disable DHCP and use it that way?

I dont want to have to mess with flashing modems to 3rd party firmware because this is not for my use (for a client).
