June 5th - laptop received. Problem with LCD, chatted with dell for service.
June 7th - received box to send back to dell. return label not included. requested new box.
june 8th - new box sent to me
june 12th - received box. return shipping label is included =D
june 14th - sent box through DHL
june 16th - box arrives at dell service center and is sent out the same day apparently.
june 19th - laptop received. the problem was not fixed. in fact, they only replaced the LCD cable. GJ dell.
June 20th - new return box sent
june 23rd - new return box arrived. MISSING RETURN SHIPPING LABEL. Chatted with dell rep, told me to call DHL. Called DHL, says I need a shipping label from dell or I had to pay the shipping.

will update whenever. when I receive something, it's evening, so whatever action Dell takes would be next business day.

good thing about the chat is they send you the chat log via email. Now I have evidence of the service rep telling me to unplug and replug the LCD cable myself.
 
the PCs at work are and have been being replaced with Dells. Mine won't POST from off state with USB devices attached. I have to literally force a shutdown and restart the system for it to actually POST and boot.

Since you're still within 30 days return period, call and tell them to overnight you a brand new laptop or you want your money back. Simple as that, and the only way to get anywhere with Dell.

Well, it's been a while & I'm assuming they want to send you the same system...can you get a better/faster one for the same price now? Tell them you want free upgrades. 😀
 
If you have problems, just go return within the 21 day return policy. Make them send you a good laptop for sending you a broken one instead of having to deal with the hassle of having a brand new one repaired.

I'll have to return the 2007FP to be replaced...it starting to show dead pixels on me =/. Anyways..hopefully i'll be getting my replacement on time next tuesday. I hope.
 
I feel for you. When their machines work, Dell value can't be beat. It's just that they're backed up by the worst service in the business. That's why I'll never order from them again. I've dealt with downright malicious support people, but in general the left hand just doesn't know what the right hand is doing there.

Dell's support is head and shoulders above Symbol, Veritas, Computer Associates, etc. I dunno if you have ever had much experience with major computer hardware/software companies, but they ALL suck. I've been relatively happy with Dell's business gold support.
 
Pretty soon it is going to be like the car issue. Don't buy domestic go with foreign... Why do a lot of companies always go to sh!t when they get so big? Stupid Dell.
 
This Dell I have from 2003 came with a 19" Flat CRT monitor that does 1600x1200...... nice..... In games the resolution is perfect (Although I'm looking at just the prettiness, on a GeForce 4 MX 420, at 1600x1200, your just looking at a slide show) But the slide show pics are perfectly clear. On 2D desktop however, its blurry on 800x600. ANYTHING higher and it gets worse and worse till you simply cant see anything on the monitor.) Sorry to threadjack, but is that the monitor or perhaps the video card giving me problems?
