Not seeing forum symbols?

When I read messages or post, and use forum sybols for smilies, they don't show up. I only see the text. If I enter 😀, I see the text, and the same for any of the other smilies or forum symbols. I'm running Internet Explorer 6.00.2465.
 
Are you customized for standard or enhanced (meaning standard only mainly text, enhanced = everything)
