Not resetting posts that have already been seen

When I close the browser and visit the site again, the icon in front of each message used to change color (and maybe the icon changed too). This made it easy to see which posts had activity since the last logon. I don't get this anymore. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm using Windows XP + all of the latest IE patches.
