Not recognizing USB keyboard in POST - Asrock H97M

I have a computer with an Asrock H97M Anniversary mobo and it is not recognizing USB during POST. My old PS/2 keyboard works just fine to power on the system and enter BIOS. But no matter what settings I use in the UEFI USB settings, I can't get the USB keyboard to work as the PS/2 does. Any advice?

Check your usb settings and experiment with the xhc hand off being on, off and auto. Some uefi boards have an issue with usb kb's and this setting.

i have the same problem with most of my USB ports on my PC computer .... its doesnt recognize my old USB HD because it have voltage filter in the cable.

Have you tried it with the USB compatibility patch disabled? Sometimes, the "patch" causes a problem with some devices, in order to solve it with others.

My mouse sometimes stops working on my H97M Pro4, seems to be when there are a few other USB devices plugged in the back. It's actually the port stops working, I have to either plug it into another port or restart the machine. Not too frequent, maybe once every two or three weeks.

Could also be related to USB standby power source, which is usually configurable by jumper pack on the motherboard.

I had this problem just start one day. I hadn't changed anything. It seems to depend on the keyboard or mouse used, but it only effects certain controllers and ports (the USB3 ones). The USB2 ports work normally.

I don't have the same motherboard but it might be worth a try.
