not recognizing cd-rom drive

FoolishMcNasty

I'm putting together a new computer, using a new motherboard, CPU, and memory. But using a previously used cd-rom drive and cables.
But this new motherboard is not recognizing the cd-rom drive as it starts up. When I look in the BIOS, it sees the drive. Very confused any ideas?

Here's the hardware:
Abit KT7A motherboard
AMD 1.1
256 crucial memory
lite-on 40x24X40
maxtor 20 gb drive

Thanks in advance...

Try 'auto-detect IDE devices' in BIOS selected the suggested results. (Don't use 'AUTO' setting for each device.) Save and then restart. It should show up on the POST screen.
