I asked a parts guy at Mazda about this and he said they make less money on warranty repairs than their hourly rate. That's why their preference is to not do warranty work (at least compared to non-warranty work).Motor mounts at 60k?
I've been hearing a TON of these stories about Mazda. They magically are able to diagnose the problems after the warranty expire. Too coincidental, IMO.
What puzzles me is the dealership doesn't loose anything by doing this. Mazda pays for warranty fixes. In fact they gain some work, (labor).
All the ignition coils on my 2004 MPV had to be replaced, first went bad about 45k, I did that one, then another went bad (and car was not happy) at 70k or something. Had to do front struts at around 70k also (*maybe* over kill and sway bar links would have been enough). I'm at 95k now and about to replace rear brakes for a second time. Thing is well on its way to being nice and rusty also (didn't see salt until 45k). A rear main seal on engine leaked and was replaced under CPO warranty at 80k or so. All said and done not completely ridiculous but hardly legendary reilability, either. It was a cheap vehicle, though. I don't hate it but wouldn't rush to another mazda.
I read about the speed6. Quality was very dicey, volume too low. Seemed a very risky proposition.
BTW a neighbor with a 2002 3 (or whatever they had then) with 151k was about to trade it in last week on a new car and then it up and leaked out of the radiator and before he got it stopped he cracked the engine block or something, car done for 😉
