Do you have to run a BIOS update from a floddy disk or can you do it from a CD/through Windows (2K)? Never done it before.

don't do it from within windows....always boot from a floppy
so naturally the floppy needs to be bootable

put the AMI or Award flasher utility and the new BIOS which should be a .rom file, onto the floppy as well

after booting from the floppy you type amiXXX.exe XXXXXX.rom

where XXX is the specific name of the ami flash utility file name and the XXXXX.rom is the filename for the .rom file

follow instructions from there

Lonyo,
PG is right.
If you have the manual for the m/b, flashing the BIOS should be a topic covered toward the back of "the book".

Also, if you search Google for your particular make & model along with the keywords "flash bios" you should find a web page that will give some comfort.
Warning, if you do this incorrectly, you could crap the m/b.
