I just noticed that all top three teams have their first block submission on Oct 23, 1977. Is that the beginning of this contest?

I guess 1977 is a bit early for this state of the art technology (just look at DNets' regular supply of stats:Q, we're not there quite yet). 😛😛

But if you mean 1997, then it is probably the first day of this project. 😀
