NOT HOT: XFX & Its r(e)tailers deceptive about 8800 warranty!

Originally I found that there were total contradictions about the warranty within XFX's
web site and also contradictions between some of what was said about the warranty
on the cards' retailers sites.

Originally in most places on the XFX site it claimed that the 8800 series warranty was
Double Lifetime (Lifetime each for the original and one subsequent owner); this was shown
on the product pages and in the PDF product briefs.

However when you went to the "warranty" page to see all the terms and conditions
it listed nothing but a two year warranty.

Most product retailers sites claimed the products had a Double Lifetime XFX Manufacturers
warranty, and they still do, weeks later.

Subsequent to my inquiry (which they ignored) it looks like XFX has removed all mention
of a "Double Lifetime Warranty" for the 8800 series cards sold in North America from their
own xfxforce.com WWW site, though their retailers sites for a large part continue
to advertise and sell the cards as having a "Double Lifetime" manufacturers warranty!

XFX in ignoring my inqiuries about their warranty and the reasons for the contradictions
and in permitting such blatantly obvious and seriously misleading contradictions to
persist in their vital support / warranty / marketing information is really showing
that they have very bad customer support and quality control even over their own
web site and product advertisement!

Now I'm guessing that most everyone who's bought an XFX 8800gtx or 8800gts since November 8 when
they launched is standing a very good chance of being denied warranty coverage since their site
and their retailers sites have been claiming Double Lifetime Warranty for the most part and yet
they seem to be 'editing out' the terms and conditions to be a 2 year non-transferable warranty
with no mention of Double-Lifetime except on the sites that are actually selling the product!

All I wanted to do was buy a XFX card and ensure I had the same coverage their site
promised and which I've relied on for my 7800, but now I feel like they're not
responsive / trustworthy and as if I've wasted my time and trust relying on their
products / warranties which seemed to be so highly praised all over the net.

Guess it's time to buy EVGA / BFG; make sure you all get your XFX warranties
if you've already bought because they seem like they're trying to backpedal on
what's still being promised in black and white on their retailers sites!

[12/07/2006] To whom it may concern, I have contacted XFX over three weeks ago with a simple question and have yet to receive anything other than an automated response. Please assist me in determining the answers to your warranty coverage so that I may make my purchasing decisions about your products. As I pointed out in my original email both XFX`s own web site as well as the web sites of XFX`s listed retailers seem to contain contradictory information. What is the warranty on an XFX 8800GTX, PV-T80F-SHF9, purchased and used in the United States, purchased new from Dell computers? What about from other e-retailers? Why does the XFX warranty page for this product (in North-America) say there is a two year warranty, and yet XFX retailers mostly list this product as having an XFX Double Lifetime Warranty? Is a Double Lifetime (original owner and subsequent owner) warranty standard on all XFX 8800s sold retail/e-retail in the USA or not? If you wish to have my business an urgent response to my original message as well as the following simple questions is necessary, otherwise I`ll have to be content buying from EVGA since at least it`s clear that they do have a lifetime warranty on their 8800 products whereas XFX doesn`t seem to even respond to the questions. An example of an apparently unsubstantiated warranty claim from one of your own listed retailers: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=321103 XFX PVT80GTHF9 GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express Video Card w/Dual-DVI, HDTV-Out Retail ***Free Shipping*** # Warranty Length: Double Lifetime Manufacturer warranty. # Coverage: Covers repair or replacement of the product. # Provider: XFX (Pine Technology) http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod...spx?c=us+l=en+s=bsd+cs=04+sku=A0775614 No warranty information of any kind is even listed, leaving one to wonder if it`s Double Lifetime, 2 year, nothing, or something else?! http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications...tails.asp?EdpNo=2570708+Tab=7+NoMapp=0 This product has a Lifetime Warranty. This warranty is provided by XFX. Thank you very much for clarifying the details of your warranty on your and your retailers sites.

That is seriously NOT HOT!
That is one of the reasons I went with XFX was due to the Double Lifetime Warranty, I tend to trade on the forums and this was a nice feature of this brand.
I still have mine sealed in the box but may return it depending on how this pans out.
