If you use the online RMA system, it quietly, automagically adds a single-line restocking fee to the email you're to send to them with the item. Was sending back $135 in RAM and saw an almost-$21 restock fee on the emailed form.

If you call, and the item was defective, they'll waive the restock fee.

There's a 15% restocking fee on all returns for refund. If you do a return for exchange because of a faulty item, then there is no restocking fee because they'll send you back a working part.

Of course this no longer applies to Open Box items, which are all return for refund.

Of course this no longer applies to Open Box items, which are all from people who swapped their broken item with a new version of the same item and then get a refund... lousy bastards.

Not on the policy notice is "you'll get a working part." I guess that part is implied?

Even if it is "policy," I'll fight it, because I shouldn't be out cash or time when they send me something that doesn't perform as advertised.

Now, if I changed my mind? Sure, charge me. Then it's my problem - not Newegg's.
