I always pay the little bit more for the FedEx SuperSaver at NewEgg. UPS has broken my stuff and they have lost stuff for me several times. One time they delivered an expensive watch I was getting back from repair to someone who had the same address as me, but the CITY was different. They couldn't get it back, even though they knew where they delivered it!!! Now I am in the process of ordering parts for a new system, and I have selected the slightly more expensive FedEx option for all of it -- with ONE exception. I forgot to click on the SuperSaver in the drop-down box for my hard drive. It was supposed to be here this past Friday, so I arranged for my wife to work from home that day. It was listed under UPS tracking as "Out for Delivery" all day long. Then, later that night it was listed as "Exception" and the explanation was that the box was overlooked at the station, and didn't make it on to the truck. WTF, I thought they scanned that stuff when they put it on the truck?? Anyway, it will be UPS 6-day shipping, not UPS 3-day shipping. And, to make matters worse, neither my wife nor I can be here on Monday -- she can elect to work from home once in a while, but not all the time -- so I won't get the hard drive until Tuesday. Not a big deal, but I had everything else sitting here to assemble over the weekend. The upshot is if I had used FedEx, I would be typing this on my new computer right now. Instead, because of my own carelessness, I won't be able to do that until NEXT weekend! NewEgg used to be known throughout the computer enthusiast community as a company that took care of its customers and ALMOST ALWAYS got your stuff to you even before they promised. You hardly EVER got anything late -- I really can't remember that happening and I have ordered lots of stuff from NewEgg ever since I built my first Pentium II 450. It is unfortunate that they are going to lose that reputation and now there won't be quite as much that separates them from the other guys out there.
