NOT HOT- Comcast raising rates...again

Just got a "courtesy call" from Comcast (who apparently bought out AT&T) to let me know my broadband internet service was going up $10 more a month, to $52.95, starting April 1. This after the $7 hike in the fall. That's almost a 50% hike in six months. Not to mention I'll have to change my e-mail addy for the fourth time since signing up with them. I don't even remember who they were then- MediaOne maybe? Time to look into DSL...

Same here, snail mail and emails too. Sucks. I can't get DSL in my area either so I'm stuck.

ATT has screwed up so much of our billing that my dad doesn't care who we go with, he just really wants to change (besides the fact that my speeds suck with ATT/Comcast). Should I go with SBC DSL? They're cheaper, and their service CAN'T be as bad as ATT. Only thing is, I signed up for the ATT contract (6 months @ 20$ a month, 45$ afterwards with free installation).

Here's what ATT fvcked up on our bill...
They "forgot" about the free installation, charged us 50$ for it
They "forgot" about the 6 months @ 20$ promotion, charged us 45$ the first two months

I called them up, bitched at them, they said they'd refund the 25$ * 6 that we would have saved over 6 months (credit), and then credited us 50$

Two months later they revoked the refund for some reason which I'm still not sure why, and I've been experiencing crappy service since the start.

comcast is so lame.. when I first moved to alabama in 1990 we had the cheapest cable in the country.. it was like $7.95 a month for full service and maybe $5 each for pay channels.. now they are charging like $39 a month for cable and $10 for the pay channels, and our internet has gone up several times as well, it used to be $39 now its going to be $52? laff.. at some point consumers need to step up and not put up with these marginal price increases.. when they increase them so often it's not marginal

This does not make me happy. Comcast just bought out attbi here in Portland Or area (well Im in salem) and I really really don't want my rates to go up. I'm already going to have to cancel most of my cable tv service (I don't see what the big deal is with digital cable. half the channels lose sound/signal quite a lot) because they charge out the arse for it. I've not had any problems with attbi's service besides trying to wade through their bills etc.
