Just a note to you fellow rebaters out there, I have a perfect rebate track record and got denied my $200.00 rebate from Amazon.com for the Sony-Ericsson T68i Cell Phone. This is what I got:

Promotion: Phone Fun Fest - Up to $250 in Rebates on Cell Phones
Department: 034710
Status: We have received your submission. We were unable to process your submission for the reasons indicated below.
The UPC symbol or proof-of-purchase tab you submitted is not valid for this promotion.
You will receive a letter or postcard explaining this problem. The letter or postcard may have additional instructions on how to correct this problem.
Promotion Type: Rebate

I called Amazon.com (BTW, their # is Phone: (800) 201-7575, Fax: (206) 266-2950, because it is impossible to find on the website) and told them of the problem and that I was ready to chargeback the phone, and a nice woman named Jimel B. told me she would have the rebate overridden and sent out right away. She said she would personally email me within 7 days to let me know what happened. She also said there have been some complaints about this rebate. So get on the stick and go to www.rebatestatus.com and make sure you're not getting screwed!

Before everybody jumps on this guy for posting a non "hot deal" there were a lot of that members who got on these Amazon rebates for phones. This is good information for people who is wondering why their rebates are in limbo.

It might be better to post this in Off Topics, but I'm sure this info will come in handy for somebody else.

Just letting you know, ive sent about 10 or so rebates through rebate status.

80% of them got DENIED. I had to call them up and plead my case on each one to get my money...

I eventually got my money, but they are hoping you never notice, and never call (which im sure some people do)

PURE Bullsh!t if you ask me.

Normally I would agree that a thread like this should be locked, but a LOT of members got in on this one, I'd say it deserves it own thread.

I think this is a follow up for a hotdeal ... maybe it should have been posted as a reply in the original thread .. just so no one would complain .. I don't have a problem with it being here .. but this usually happens in the original thread.

Hey, no harm, no foul. If this needs to be locked and/or moved, then please do so with my blessing. I am an infrequent poster so I just went with my gut. However, a big THANKS goes out to the AT community for helping me save buck$ over the past year or two. You guys rule. I'm just waiting with drool coming out fo the side of my mouth like Homer for the Best Buy Black Friday Ads!!!

They didn't screw up everyone's rebate. I got mine about 8 weeks after I sent it in. Not a bad response time really.

I had this SAME problem. I emailed them about it and told them I was SURE i sent the right rebate and attached a picture of the damn phone with the upc on it.

2 days later I had a rebate in process. That was about 6 weeks ago. My rebate check was FINALLY mailed after 9 weeks. So you should email them about it.

I had a few rebates from rebatestatus that just kept lingering, and they never sent. I called, and was polite, and plead my case, and within 2 weeks the checks arrived. Just be diligent and call. Emailing did nothing for me.
Good luck.

I got the same notice on wife's Sprint phone for the same reason. I'm double and triple check everything before I send out the rebates so there was no way I would missed something. I had the same issue on both the WD 120GB HD and Clicksmart 310 rebate at rebatesHQ as well. Beware!

I think my best rebate experience has been with BestBuy. They're extremely fast and never had to follow up. I had my T68i phone rebates in 3 weeks! Wow.

Yeah, thanks for the heads up, thegreatkevinski.
Checked and Amazon Motorola rebate mailed 4 days ago although I did not expect it before mid January.
So the Motorala cell phone deals posted here seem to be OK but if you got in on the Ericson deal, I'd take this sentence seriously She also said there have been some complaints about this rebate.

Thanks for the heads up!
I just checked the status of my rebate (Nextel deal from about july)
Well it was denied for not having a receipt!!! wtf the rebate form called for a packing slip which I clearly had in there!!!!

I tried calling them but I got some automated system and I couldn't figure out how to put my name in the system! ( 2 = ABC...3 = DEF How are you supposed to pick one letter, I tried it a few different ways but it could never find my info and it didn't repeat what I put in so I don't know if I even put my last name in right?!?)

Anyway I used the online email system and sent that with the "additional" info filled in at the bottom!

This better come through....
Now I remember why I hate rebates...you feel so helpless...it's been so long now I can't return or contest the charge with my CC! :(

The Rebate Center that processes Amazons rebates is the same one that did my Dell - and it took 13 weeks! I just checked my rebate status for my Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem and it has been denied too - said it was invalid for my UPC! That is pure BS and I have yet to hear back from Amazon since our last correspondence last Wednesday....

Fight back, stingygirl! Don't just send an email, call and threaten chargeback action. That got me satisfactory activity right quick. Now to see if it works... You gotta stay on top of these people!

Had the same problem with my amazon rebate on 2 phones from May; but I will say that the CSRs at Rebatestatus did handle my case with courtesy and got it expedited. I had to resubmit twice and do a lot of waiting but got my rebates.

I scan everything before I send it out. I can't tell you how many times I've had to fax copies of something that these rebate companies claim they didn't receive. My advice is to make either a hard copy or scan of everything. Also, keep a spreadsheet or database that includes the date it was sent out, the date is is due, the contact phone number for following up, etc. For every one of us that keeps track of our records and keeps copies, there are probably 5 people who will just accept that they screwed up and are not entitled to the rebate. These rebate companies are crooks, IMO.

I am one of the people who are having problems with the Motorola SURFBoard cable modem rebate at Amazon. I just checked my status and now there are two listings for it - one denied and the other processing. This is very strange and seems typical of this company (RebateStatus.com). from what has happened to me and what I read about other people's experiences....
