Dear c2it(sm) Member,

Effective November 9, 2003, the c2it service will be discontinued and
financial transactions using the www.c2it.com website will no longer
be available. At this time, your c2it account will also be closed,
however you may continue to log on to the website until February 22,
2004 to manage your membership information and view your statements.

You currently do not have a balance in your c2it account. As of
November 9, 2003, your c2it account will simply be closed.

If for any reason you have funds in your c2it account upon closure on
November 9, 2003, a check will be sent to the address we have on file
for you. Checks will be mailed on or around November 18, 2003.
Please allow 7-10 business days after November 18, 2003 to receive
your check.

If you also have a c2it Debit Card, it will be cancelled on November
9, 2003 and you will no longer be able to use it for transactions,
including purchases and cash withdrawals.

For more information about the discontinuance of c2it service and
answers to many questions you may have, please visit www.c2it.com and
click the link to view "Important Details and FAQs".

We appreciate your business with c2it and apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause.

i just got this email too. however, my email differed by: You currently have a balance in your c2it account.

i havent touched this account for over a year and had always thought it was empty. i tried logging in but it seemed that i had forgotten my passworld.
so i called in and had it resetted (i didnt know which accounts i had link it to). then it gave me that thee account was locked due to inactivity over 12months. so i had to call in to get it unlocked.

finally i get in and do a EFT to my checking account.

nice.

Paypal's competion went out the window when eBay aqcuired them. I had a great deal to do with c2it and their online strategy, and despite every piece of advice I gave them they were clueless. This was inevitable.

You better go back to the real c2it and change your password quickly. That was a fake email, I got the same one earlier today.

Got the same email. Can't think what balance I would have and I don't remember the password. What number did you call to reset it.

I got the same E-mail and apparently I have money in there. I would avoid transferring the money to your account because they will charge you for the transfer, just wait for the check and you will probably get your entire balance back. I had very little in there so a $5 charge or whatever fee they charge just kind of pisses me off, I'd rather wait.

GOOD! They s*cked a$$ when they went to fees.

Talks about st*pid management. They entered the market as an also-ran, then decided to add fees. Ya, that'll get them the customers to catch up to Paypal.

It shows you that normal high scholl kids could run that shop better those expensive MBA Monkeys!

You don't know the circumstances of c2it, paypal and eBay. The paypal acquisition occured because eBay was signing an exclusive integration agreement with c2it. The contracts were in place and about to be signed when eBay gave paypal a last ditch offer to reduce their price and join the family.

The market isn't really worthwhile without the eBay piece and the acquisition pretty much gave the death blow to that, so...

because PO boxes are favorite among fraudulent sellers who don't want to be traced

maybe c2it didn't freeze enough legit accounts to be profitable, paypal-style

Do not wait for a check from C2it!!! You pay $3.00 for a check now, and the email implies that after they close the check will be free. Not true!!!

A C2it CSR told me that the $3.00 fee would also be charged if you get a check from them after Nov 9. My linked CC was Visa, which they stopped using recently. Thus, I had some money trapped. I went ahead and linked my bank acct so I can transfer the money free.

By the way, eBay sellers can still use PayPal Personal Acct for free, and have CC buyers use BidPay. Or, you can have two PayPal accts, one Personal and one Business. Yes, that's a pain. :disgust:
