I have a Logitech USB headset I'm trying to use to play music/sounds from my Windows 7 PC. No sounds are heard, and after trying many troubleshooting guides I can't seem to figure out what's going on. I know these were working at one point before.

Here's what I tried:

1) Tried using the headset on my laptop - works fine.
2) Checked to make sure sound level is high (set to max) and not muted.
3) When I right-click the speakers icon in my system tray, then choose playback devices, I ensure that the defaulted device is "Speakers // 8- Logitech USB Headset". The only other options in there are "Speakers // Creative SB X-Fi", "SPDIF Out // Creative SB X-Fi" and "Digital Audio (S/PDIF) // High Definition Audio Device". I tried setting each of them as default just to try. No sound ever, and ensured volume was way up/not muted each time.
4) I went into Device Manager, and I see a bunch of audio drivers installed:
-Creative SB X-Fi
-High Definition Audio Device
-Logitech USB Headset
-NVIDIA High Definition Audio (listed 4 times)
-NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device
None of them have yellow exclamation or anything. Looks fine
5) I ensured the USB jack is functional - When I plugged my headset the first time, Windows recognized and auto-installed drivers. The light on the little volume control on the wire is solid red. I also made sure to hold down the up volume on this manual control too during my testing.

What could be going on?

edit: for playback I was testing with both Youtube music videos and some sample mp3 files on my PC using VLC player

Are the headphones plugged into a USB3 port? You may have to use a USB2 port.
You didn't say which model Logitec's, or what motherboard..

I don't honestly know what type of USB ports are where on this pc, but I did try one port of each cluster on the back plus tried on the ports on the front of the case.

The mobo is ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5K-E Rev 1.xx

The headset is Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB Headset H390 (Black)

I found some regular analog audio buds, and they are not getting any sounds either. Tried plugging into each of the jacks on the back of sound card as I always forget which one outputs to headphones. None work. The playback device was set to the Speakers // Creative SB X-Fi

That's an old PC, so it's not going to have USB3.. Likely a problem with Windows. You may have to do a fresh install.
