Soo... I don't know if for some apps you don't or what, but the last few programs i've installed (handbrake, mpeg streamclip, and i forget the other one) haven't asked me to drag the program into the HD. Is there a reason for that? Do some apps just not need that?

Sometmies they need some files installed in other places besides the Application folder, which is why they come with an installer. Other times it is all self enclosed which is why you can just drag and drop it.

Only the first time, the file is quarantined until you accept that prompt. Once you accept it though, you should never see that again from the same file.

If it's an application with an icon, it needs to go in the Applications folder, regardless of whether or not the developer bothered to put in a handy shortcut link. More complex programs like Microsoft Office 2008 or Final Cut Pro 2 simply use an installer.

Bottom line = copy ALL your programs to the Applications folder, and run them from there! I added a shortcut to the Applications folder to my Dock for easy access.

That's odd, it should only do that popup *once* after you copy it into the Applications folder...you tried rebooting?
