Not getting as much HD space as I should

My HD is supposed to have 200Gb, but I'm only getting 127. My C: partition with Windows and some programs is 10Gb, while the D: at 117Gb contains the bulk of programs and games.

Not sure why this is and what I can do about it. I've had it since 2005, by the way, but I've never have to dealt with it until now.

Also, is there a way to move some space from D: to C: without reformatting?

Stop using the FCKGW version of XP.

Once you've switched to a legitimate version of the OS you can then install Service Pack 3 and see the full capacity of the hard drive.

Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or higher is able to access drives larger than 127 GB, but you'll need to install Windows from a CD with the service pack included in order to create a partition the full size of the drive.

If you can't (or don't want to) slipstream SP1 into your Windows install CD, you can create a smaller partition for Windows (say 30GB), install Windows, update to Service Pack 2 or 3, then create a second partition with the rest of the drive space for your data.

You can also use partition management software to resize the partition to include the full size of your drive after you install the service packs if you prefer to have just one partition on the drive. It is possible to make the C: partition larger, but I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you have a good backup of everything on the drive.

...or you could go the easy route and download the needed tools from your HDD manufacturer's website, run them, and let them fix the problem for you automatically. Remember to install SP3 afterwards.
