not detecting sound card

After a recent windows XP reinstall, the sound on this computer has stopped working. I'm sure it's not the speakers because the computer is not detecting the sound card itself.

I'm sure it's not the sound cards because I have tried three, one is a new Creative Soundblaster Live 5.1, one is a maddog prowler 4.1 DSP from another computer (which was working in the beginning) and the original sound card in this computer, a Sound Blaster Vibra (which is now installed on a different computer, and working).

So, it's definitly this computer. I can't install drivers since the computer doesn't even detect the sound card itself.

I've tried putting it on different PCI slots, tried three of them, none work.

I'm sure not all of the PCI slots are shot too, since the ethernet card is in working condition.

Is there some BIOS setting that I may have accidently tweaked? Something up in windows?

Please help me!

Thanks.

Perhaps the sound card is not assigned an IRQ. Maybe you unassigned your unused PCI slots to free up IRQs, and forgot about it.

I'm sure I didn't do that. But I checked anyways. Doesn't seem to be it.

Although.. I'm not quite use to this motherboard (not my main computer), is there somewhere on the 'net where i could find a BIOS manual?

I'm using Award BIOS v6.00 PG...

I switched the slot the ethernet card is in, and the comp recognizes the card in a different slot but it doesn't recognize the sound card when I stick it in the slot the NIC was in.

Does it have to do with some timing problem or something? PCI Clock speed? I don't know much about that stuff.
