I installed some new hardware (sound card), now its not detecting either drive, I replaced the round cable with the stock flat cables hoping that would resolve the issue but still its not detecting them, they are getting power as they both open and close but just wont read or show up in my device manager.. Everything is seated correctly and in order

Suggest that you follow the same proceedure I posted in the other thread here.

Look in Device Manager to see if there's a yellow symbiol beside the DVD/CD-ROM drives. If so, you need to reinstall the software drivers for them.

Whatever software that installed with your new sound card may have inadvertently corrupted the driver software for your CD/DVD drives.

Also, while installing your new sound card, there's a chance you accidentally slightly physically losened the cable(s) to uyour CD-ROM drives. Double check all connections,

Whether you use round or ribbon cables is not related to solving your problem, although round cables allow better air flow which improves cooling for your rig. So go ahead & use whatever rounded cables you have.

If you find that none of this helps, please come back here & describe more about your problem. Good luck!

Are the drives detected and shown in POST?
