got my new mobo and cpu setup in, plug everything in. the hard drive is on IDE1 and the cdrom is in IDE2. i install windows xp, creating a new partition and formatting it. when it says remove anything from the a: drive and reboot in 15seconds i pull out the cd and let it boot, and it gets all the way to the device listings and stops and says DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. im looking at the primary mast disk and it says none.... ive tried to auto detect it but it cant find it.... what am i suppose to do? its a Abit KV7-V board with a AMD Athlon XP 2900+ processor... new Antec 350w power supply and new 256MB 333Mhz Kingston ram.

1. Check BIOS to see if boot from IDE1/HDD is enable.

2. Check to see if FSB setting is set to auto (I?m not familiar with XP 2900+)

3. Check memory (ram) setting to see if it is set to auto or 166mhz.

4. Unplug all PCI devices if is applicable.

What is the result after you had tried the a bove steps?
Reseat all cables and & ram.
Do you have another stick of ram to test?
Also try to boot with a Knoppix Live CD to see if it can mount your HDD.
