Still Alive............................................................

sorry if this is a repost did the search thingy and stuff.......

Envision 17.0" flatscreen CRT monitor #490583 is currently on sale at staples for $149.98 with a $50 mail in rebate. add $.02 and use the infamous $30 off $150 purchase to get..........$150-$50-$30 = $70 + tax. Not too shabby for a 17" flatscreen even if it is a no-name brand.

Sorry in advance if this isn't hot......Thought some one might like one.

Is this rebate from Staples itself?

Staples usually has a really good turn around time so I wouldn't mind getting it if they are indeed fullfilling the rebates.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I can't find the rebate link.

Does the rebate come with the monitor?

thats what i was wondering. also envision are a good bang for your buck type of monitor. not top of the line but certainly a good deal on this one assuming the rebate can be found and is good.

I use one of these for my daughters comp.
It gets a respectable picture, especially for the money.
If I was looking for an inexpensive monitor I would grab another one.

I have purchased several of these monitors and want for a better term this is the best of the decent crappy cheap flat screens. Fine for text and non-graphic programs. No Photoshop, Illustrator or programs that need real accuracy. I will like to know if anyone can get rid of the moire and pincushion effectively? The price is rockin though.

Great deal actually. No tax here, combined with free shipping means aprox $70 for this; delivered. The wife is very happy!

Does anyone have this monitor? How is it? Wondering how it compares to the Samsung 753DF 17" flat.

Thanks.

Well, I ordered this monitor about a week ago along with a rubber band ball. The monitor came in today. Sitting next to my Viewsonic PF775 (3 years old) it looks ok, but it isn't nearly as crisp and I can't get the white to be nearly as bright. However, it is still an excellent quality picture. I didn't realize the case was black when I ordered it, but the front is still silver so it looks alright. The only complaint I have about it is that the buttons for adjusting the picture and accessing the menus are really crappy. You really have to push on them to get them to respond. Still, it was a great deal for $70! (as long as the rebate comes through, which by the way can be found on the page where you purchase the monitor)

I have it sitting next to an M781s (the dell monitor I got about 3 years ago). I loved my dell monitor. I knew it wasn't close to top of the line, but it got the job done real well. Anyway, I personally think the dell monitor looks nicer, shaper picture, more vivid colors, even though it's not flat. Everyone one of my roomates thinks the envision is a lot sharper and has better color. So im convinced of one thing, it definately is a decent monitor, and how good it is, is based on your personal preferences.

Don't be fooled, An LCD or expensive CRT, will blow this out of the water.

The one thing I will say is it's difficult to get the envision fine tuned to the way you like it. Took me almost an hour of fiddling around to get the colors and such right, and even still, i cant get it to match my dell monitor perfectly.

Course, I never been the picky type... ;)
