Crickets. That's what the noise sounds like. I swear I thought I had a cricket in the house. And I live in an apartment. On the second floor!

I'm sittin' here typing away, wasting my Sunday night, when I heard it: :chirp-chirrrrrup-chirupppp-chirp:

So I jump up out of my chair (I hate bugs...they creep me out) and turn my head to get a fix on the sound. I follow the sound...it's the fan in the PS in my server! :disgust:

It is most definintely the fan; had my ear right there.

It's an Antec 400w that I did the fan-mod on to decrease fan noise (how ironic) the fan is a Vantec Stealth Fan...only a year old, if that. Ironically (lotsa irony here) ALL my 80mm fans are Vantec Stealth fans. I bought 12 of them at the same time and replaced ALL my case fans with these.

I really hope they dont' all start making that noise.

one of my antecs makes a cricket noise as well. i should fan swap it. or send it in to antec.

Man, now I've gotta remove the PS from the case. FYI, when I build a system, I use wire ties (zip ties) like it's going out of style...everyting is zipped together and out of the way), a major PITA!!! :disgust:

Then, I gotta open the PS....DAMN I just rmembered; my soldering station is in storage!! DAMNNNNNNNN! Now what? Guess I gotta go dig the stupid up!

Damn.. I have stealths in my system and have heard chirps every now and then.. but I don't think it's the fan. I think it's coming from outside the window.. I hope it isn't the fans..
