Not buying BF4, it sickens me

I wasn't too impressed with the game prior to getting my refund from Origin, but I figure for $25 on Black Friday I will try it again. BF3 servers are slowly dying.

I too get a little nauseated after a while, but I already bought the game. I play it sparingly. Not even more than an hour on multiplayer though.

I was getting the same feeling from Metro: Last Light too. I didn't used to get it from playing FPS - I think it's a matter of being used to it again.

I have been a big proponent of the BF series, and I sold my BF4 account 2 weeks in. As one poster mentioned, felt like I was playing a modified CoD title.

Some games have made me motion sick, not sure exactly why. The one I remember most was Prey. It wasn't all the gravity-flipping stuff, it was just the gameplay. Maybe the fov or headbob or something, but I got an awful headache and nauseated.

As for BF4, I played some of the beta and it was OK...I just don't see how it's any improvement over BF3. Like, at least graphically there's a jump between BF2 to BF3..but 3 to 4? Unless you've got a really nice rig you probably won't tell much difference, and the gameplay is almost exactly the same. The maps and dynamic events are cool, but could that not have been added into BF3?

As above I have generally been a big Battle Field fan but 4 really seems like an expansion to BF3. Maybe I'll get it if it becomes cheap enough however with all the unlocks I bet I'd get frustrated being late to the party.

No idea why games devs insist on using headbob to such ridiculous extremes. In real life, your neck & eye muscles compensate for most motion related head movement. Some games look so absurd the only way to mimic that in reality is to both wear a rigid surgical neck brace and use anaesthetic eyedrops that paralyze your eye muscles, then run like a giraffe with a fractured neck...

On the subject of stupid unrealistic "realism" effects, they also need to ditch over the top DOF (Depth of Field) effects (outside of the sole useful application of using blur on zoomed gunsights / binoculars). In real life near vs far focusing is virtually instant. Some games however, seem to want to become Glaucoma simulators...

Borderlands 2 makes me sick but its the only game that does so. I haven't had any issues with BF4, but I do recommend turning off the motion blur and depth of field and anything that makes the game fuzzy (post processing AA for example) as these can contribute to motion sickness.

Seems that there is a growing crowd feeling this way. When I initially said this about BF3 the community was basically unreceptive with a "Shut up i love you, game rulez!"

The line between COD and BF(number here) has been blurred....meh on both games.

I noticed this after BF2

Its the fact that they want to sell half a game for full price, and then sell you the other half in their planned out DLC scheme why they will never get my money. Screw EA. They ruin everything they get their hands on.

If it's not on Steam, I'm not playing it. It's cost me some games I really wanted to play, like Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Dragon Age & the Battlefield series, but the Steam Loyalty points are worth it.

I bet the guys at valve are saying "Sure is a good thing we got Nebor for life"

Never understood brand loyalty of any kind

Why would you not buy a game just because it's not on Steam? Dragon Age Origins was awesome, had no DRM, and can be had dirt cheap 2nd hand on EBay / Amazon. How many "loyalty points" does it take for a $5-$10 game with +60hrs gameplay to be a bargain by itself? DAO was one of those "once in a decade" epic's (like Deus Ex, etc), which doesn't suffer from consolitis (it's one of the few games that put a great deal of effort into making the PC interface a pleasure to use), and provides a lot of gameplay that doesn't feel like it's "padding". That can't be said for a lot of recent games on Steam...

I never understood VSEPR theory. Nobody's perfect. *shrug*

I buy most AAA titles at full price either pre-release or at release on Steam, and spend a good bit on sales. I've got about 300 titles IIRC.

Because I want everything to run through Steam, because I like Steam. Not to mention they basically saved PC gaming. Valve is a company worth supporting.

I know Dragon Age Origins & Awakening were awesome, I have it on Steam. I just wish I'd managed to buy DA2 before EA pulled it from the Steam store. 🙁

Some games make me sick almost instantly playing them. Fortunately BF4 doesn't - as that would have sucked after preordering it + premium. 😛 The worst was this crappy xbox 360 game called Dark Sector. I played for half an hour and I was basically incapacitated the rest of the day. The Half Life series did a good number on me too.

Meh. The release day game is nothing like half a game. I've played 60+ hours and haven't gotten bored pre-DLC. Only real issue is if you don't to the DLC you get fragmented out of the MP games as all the clan servers typically will rotate in the new maps.

The head bobbing is the thing I hate the most about Battlefield. It's unrealistic. In real life your eyes compensate for head movements, extremely well.
Exactly. I am not subject to motion sickness ever but I freakin' HATE head bobbing. It's like FPS's are now programmed by people who have never run.
