Sorry if this a known issue or a repost but I found tonight that not all low speed Yate Loon 120mm are the same. I just ordered a bunch of Yates from Petra's to replace my orange finned Yates. First thing I noticed was the two part numbers were different then I had one orange finned yate and one black finned yate installed and I noticed the black finned yate moved allot more air than the orange finned one the weird thing is both fans are rated at 47cfm. So just a heads up buy your yates from a trusted dealer. My temps with the Petra yates installed has gone down by 2 deg C and I have not installed the three sitting on my desk to the radiator!

Supposedly Petras deals directly with Yate Loon whereas other dealers use a middle-man. See post #6 here.

When I was fan shopping I also noticed the different part numbers.

I'm pondering replacing some Scythe SY1225SL12M's & looking for something a little more quiet myself.

no there not.

Petra has a different source.

Jab-tech as well.

The fans are just different model numbers, hence why you see different numbers for them.

the D12SL-12s has different model numbers.

Open corners and closed corners. As well as blade construction.

To say jab-tech carries fake yates is going too far, because i can tell you for a fact, jab-tech, performance-pcs, and sidewinders most likely use the same source.

Petra is the only one with a difference source and also hence why you find different yates at his store then all the others.

This topic was so talked about on XS and even a lengthy investigation was conducted.

Yes in some aspects petra's yates are slightly better, mostly in the low speed department.

But there still yates.

Well I finally got my new yates installed on my rad looks like a net of 2c better cooling on all cores and they are quiet compared to my orange finned yates. They are black closed corner fans with slightly curved blades model 605's purchased from Petra's. The orange finned yates were model 805 and sure didn't feel like they were putting out as much air as the Petra yates
Very pleased with the performance :)

I see you just bought the the Loon's.

I have replace all fans in my case with the Noctua series.

Two case fans in use, 80mm on my IFX MB cooler and then had a 120 on my S1, but then just went sli and got another S1, but can't fit two 120 in that space. So just have the 120 propped blowing on them for now, may get a couple of 80's and do the same.

My two cents on Noctua. A very cool and quiet two cents.

I have heard very good things about that fan as well. The thing about the petra yates is they perform well and are really inexpensive. I like value when ever I can get it ;)
