why dont you build a "family computer" (ie. the old 486 in the basement)

or B.
make a "family account" that is soo bloody castrated that they can't install anything.

I came home and my wife's camera is on my desk plugged into my computer, there's 4X6 photo paper strewn about, Photoshop is open and there's edited pics of my daughters mouse in a new folder called "Reese" on my desktop.
The 8 year old is making 282 dpi 4x6's of her pet mouse.
I told her to print them at 300 dpi and clean up my goddam desk :D

I hate to say it, but my dad is like that. I'll spend hours cleaning his machines, and within minutes, his rig is back to crap

1 hour 2 minutes...

removed 4 viruses...
removed 8 entries found by hijack this..
proceeded to boot in safe mode...
adaware (ran it first) found 120 something registry keys and values...
spybot finished it off with another 30....
Manually deleted 6 directories.. newdotnet, bargainbuddy, and a few others that I don't recall the names of a the moment.

allll fixed.

Still irritated though.

Oh, and it was kazaa lite... I kept the install file for it since it's a pain in the neck to find on google any more.. He knew enough to search for it, install it. What he needed was a key to register software that I have. He knew he could just get any old key from the internet, rather than search for the key in my computer room... (I'd probably have a hard time finding it myself - we're all packed up and ready to move... boxes and boxes of stuff.)

And, he ran a program that generates keys... (oh nooooooo!!!)
that installed a virus that downloads the malware.

Oh well. Only lost an hour of my time (and 2 minutes)
