Here is a subpoena in a civil case.

That has been my day at work so far. I have been underwriting Directors' and Officers insurance now for the past 6 years.
This is the first time I have been subpoena'd in a case. Sure, lots of accounts I have written have had past claims, and lots of them that I have written have had claims come up. But nothing like this has ever happened.

Of course my company's lead attorney is in his office with the door closed (for the past 2 hours now) so I am sitting here wondering what the hell this is all about.

Ah the joys of working in a regulated industry. Of course it is the insurance company that I underwrite on behalf of that is being sued, but I'm now a "witness" and get to have my time wasted on crap like this.

Is it 4 yet? I could really use a beer right now.

EDIT: And the most bizarre part is that there is a stapled $40 check from the investigation service for a "witness fee".
