We had a visitor show up in my neighbors yard this weekend that nobody wanted to "slither" by. A 4 1/2 foot cotton mouth. Take a look, the end of the shovel is covered in venom.

I've found about 4 rat snakes in my back yard this past summer. It could be the same one as I keep relocating them next to the creek about 11 houses down from mine.

I had a 4 foot snake trying to call across our carport the other day - I just used my hoe to pick him up and move him back outside, where she slithered off into our garden. That was the 2nd big one I've seen, but we have a ton of small little tan ones around here. It's sad when I hit them with the lawnmower :(

Take it to a taxidermist and have the hide made into a belt

Poisonous snakes in your yard = not cool. Add to the fact that its a Cotton Mouth, which are pretty pissy as far as disposition goes. I like snakes, and non poisonous ones have nothing to fear from me. I like haveing them around. But the poisonous are not welcome in my yard, heh.

Maybe he has children that he'd prefer not have bitten.

What the hell? Because I'd rather see an animal relocated than it's head chopped off?

Non-poisonous snakes are good to have around ... keeps down the rodent population that might attract other, less desirable snakes. Rat snakes are cool to ... make good pets, although probably not from the wild.

Well, just to make it clear. I have not killed a snake in years. But I lived in the country for about 3 years and there was NO animal control. I only killed two when I lived out there. If they were 100 or so yards from my house no big deal, I'll just avoid them. But when they try to set up shop in the bushes in your front yard...Its not cool to have poisonous snakes near the side walk to your drive way.

Lol, I can see inviting people over = When you get hare try to watch out for the nest of venomous snakes in the front yard, heh.

Anyways, I am generally totally against killing animals or creatures of any kind. However, sometimes I think it needs to be done.

I would've done the same thing, poisonous or not. A snake is a snake and I don't take chances with snakes. BTW, how'd it taste? like chicken?

So is this how you respond now that you can no longer make gay/ghey/homo comments? Very good.

You obviously never grew up in an area with poisonous snakes. They are not something to mess around with, and sometimes you have to kill them.

Stop acting like an asshat. Have you ever called animal control?

I did once, there was a pitbull running loose in the neighborhood, it wasn't very nice. Animal control said that until it attacked someone there was nothing they would do about it. That made me feel safe.

I have a small dog (7lbs) and I have killed a snake before because it was in our yard. I'd kill a snake over letting it get my dog any day.
