What kind of a nerd are you? You SHOULD have a potentiometer laying around as well that you can use to make an infinitely adjustable speed knob.

eh, i do have a fanmate one, but its still not as kewl as just getting that preengineered thing🙂 guess i could use my fanbus too, still not as neat🙂

well i got one😛

the fan itself is 70mm, it has a red led and the battery compartment for optional batteries is accessed through the bottom. the lid is the stand, there are a few notches for different positions, and the red button on the front controls speed. not too bad for 5 bucks🙂 the entire thing is kinda bigger then it looks in the picture.

so yes, you can use it with your laptop, if you use 4 AAA. the reviewer must have had a weak usb port, mine start fine on low speed.
