My floppy drives just goes off sometimes it did not start doing this until I installed norton antivirus on the machine have any of you guys heard of this and if so do you know any solutions to stopping it

Uninstall Norton, see if you still have the same problem. If not, then you know what caused it. Simple.

You should go through all the options of that antivirus software and disable everything you don't need. Sometimes I that antivirus software is as bad as viruses the defend from.. you don't have complete control over the sotware, it has some stupid options, always does useless things for you that you can't even disable.

The best thing is to completely disable automatic scans/monitoring and only scan when you NEED to (unless you constantly download infected files and share data with others).
